Final Week of Super Heroine Fitness

Welcome to The Long and Winding Road to Wellness all ye visitors from the Grow Your Blog Hop!

Not long after I published last week's post I received notification that I'm a Sweat Pink Ambassador!  I'm excited to see where this takes me.  I already ordered and received 40 #sweatpinklaces to give out for various special achievements over the holidays.

This also adds to the Fitfluential Ambassadorship.

5 Random Things About Me

Since there are new folks visiting as a part of the Hop I thought I'd try another 5 random things about me.  It's been a while since I've done one of these so bear with me.
  1. It's only since starting on this journey that I discovered it's my dream job to be a Wellness Coach and run a Wellness Center.  Finding the money to pay for the certification through NETA and getting my foot in the door somewhere without any formal experience and education is proving to be a mighty challenge.
  2. Growing up I used to be scared of the grates in the sidewalk downtown.  I would do everything I could to avoid walking across them.  For some reason I had this fear that I'd fall through.  Some days it still bothers me but for the most part on my walks I go over them with no problems now.
  3. I used to regularly dye my hair an auburn color but wouldn't go full red.  Can you imagine me as a redhead?
  4. I took ballet & tap in preschool.  My uncoordinated self would be the one you'd often see going the opposite direction from everyone else.  Grandma (mom's mom) still has a picture somewhere from a show where this actually happened.
  5. I've never been drunk.  Buzzed but never fully loaded.  Every time I tell people this there's always someone that says that they're going to get me drunk but never invite me anywhere to even try.
What are 5 things you'd like me to know about you?

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Weigh-in Wednesday!

THURSDAY I got in more reps during Super Heroine Fitness Episode 3 Adventure 4 Circuit B than the last time despite being sweaty and lightheaded with my nose dripping.

SATURDAY I began the final week with Adventure 1.  The first song that popped up on my Pandora was a perfect title for Halloween - Ghosts 'n' Stuff by Deadmou5.  After eating lunch Austin and I headed to the library.  Austin wore his costume (less the knife).  Because it was Irvington's Halloween Festival we had to park about 3/4 mile away and walk in.  After picking up our items we checked out the non-food booths but didn't see anything we wanted to buy.  It was windy and sprinkled on us a couple of times while trick-or-treating that night.  (I had to wear my jacket draped over my shoulders but Austin was hot.)

SUNDAY night I went to bed with the chest and back pain similar to what I've been experiencing during the early phase of a gallbladder attack.  I took 4 acetaminophen and went to bed.  The pain didn't increase but held steady throughout the night.  I think I just dozed and never really slept.  I was so sleepy I couldn't bring myself to even do some yoga Monday like I'd planned.

TUESDAY I did Adventure 2 sans sprints.  This was for two reasons - I didn't feel like doing sprints of any kind and I took Benny to his first election.  Sure, it was only the municipal but he needs to know how it works without the crowds.

How was your week?

Next Tuesday will be the last Super Heroine Fitness workout.  I don't yet know what I'll be doing next.  I'm considering designing my own program as I had to make many substitutions due to the lack of equipment or ability/comfort in doing some exercises.  If you have a program that you recommend or something like a template to help me come up with something please be sure to leave a link in the comments.

I was excited to find out that our team is FINALLY offering a weight maintenance contest!  If you're not already involved with Beachbody check out this little press release I wrote up about the contest.  I'd love it if you'd join so we can maintain together.

GoReIn2015 Q1 Update

I'm up a little this week but TOM is in town so it's to be expected.  Two weeks until I have my next official weigh in!

Week of Workouts

This week was ALL Kelly Coffey-Meyer's 30 Minutes to Fitness workouts.

Thursday I did Muscle Definition Workout 1.

Friday was the Train Like a Contender Conditioning workout.

Saturday I did the Muscle Definition Shoulders, Biceps, & Triceps pre-mix.

Monday was the Circuit Burn Total Circuit Burn Mix.

Yesterday was more Muscle Definition with the Back & Chest pre-mix, which I attempted the second round on the stability ball.

Today was the Circuit Burn Boxing & Legs pre-mix.

My First Race

Course Map found at http://englewoodcdc.com/race/

Saturday is the big day!  I wanted to walk this week but it's been so cold and rainy I just couldn't.  The weather for Saturday doesn't look promising temperature wise either.  Benny's been sick so I'm not asking him to sit out in the cold but maybe Austin will be there to cheer me on.  Nobody's contacted me yet so I guess I'm supposed to be there about 8:30....

Weather.com's Forecast

GoReIn2015 Q1 Update

I listed my goals for 2015 in the last post of 2014.  It looks like I haven't made much progress this first quarter but I still have the rest of the year!

#9 I believe that improving my overall health and wellness includes testing my hormones.  My GYN doesn't seem to think that I have hormonal issues seeing that I have regular and "normal" menses.  Hormones are one area that can affect sleep and none of the doctors I saw and ran the sleep studies discussed this.  One of the BODYpeace babes suggested seeing a Functional Medicine doctor but they aren't fully covered by my insurance so that's not an option for me with our high deductible.  We'll see what happens at my annual visit on Tuesday.

#10 I've decided that BODYpeace is the primary theme of my personal development this year.  Before I started this journey I didn't care about my body or what I looked like.  Now that I've hit goal I'm struggling with acceptance, especially with the loose skin and lack of boobs (they just don't look like boobs anymore).  So I'm concentrating my efforts on this topic (BODYpeace not boobs in case you're confused LOL).

#11 I'm doing well on maintaining my weight.  I tend to step on the scale daily to see what it says before working out but forget what it says before I even leave for work.

How are you doing on your goals for the year?

Workouts and New Equipment

Week of Workouts

Thursday I took a rest day.

Friday I did Kelly Coffey-Meyer's 30 Minutes to Fitness Circuit Burn Workout 2.

Saturday was time for some more lifting with Kelly's Lift in Full Throttle Olympic Lifting workout.

Sunday I did some Tai Chi with Scott Cole.

Monday I did Stephanie Vitorino's Body Target 60 - Total Target 30.

Yesterday was more lifting with Kelly's Lift in Full Throttle Powersculpting workout.

This morning I tried Kelly's Healthy Back workout.  It was a little slow for me and that's odd for her workouts.  The ones I haven't liked were too fast for me! LOL

A Workout Schedule

Since I'm not currently doing any program I've been trying to figure out some kind of schedule to follow.  It just doesn't feel right totally randomly selecting a workout each day.

I've decided that I'll do some kind of weight lifting workout on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  That gives me 40 minutes to lift on Tuesday/Thursday and as much as I feel like on Saturday.  Wednesday and Friday I'll do cardio.  Sunday will be yoga or Tai Chi.  Monday is open for a rest day or more cardio, depending upon how I feel.

What does your workout schedule look like?

$100 at Amazon

I was the grand prize winner on Fitfluential's Twitter chat for International Women's Day so I had been trying to figure out what to get.  I didn't spend it all so I have some for later.  So what did I get?

I got these dumbbells so I can have heavier weights to work with for lifting.  This one is supposed to be delivered today by UPS.  Perfect timing for lifting tomorrow!

I knew I wanted a stability ball to do some different exercises but couldn't decide which one.  I ended up with this pretty blue thing.  As I've never used one before this will be an experience in itself LOL

I want to go through a second round of BODYpeace and hold the actual book in my hand while doing it.  There's always a different mood, temperament, feeling, etc. when using an actual book as opposed to a digital copy.  Will see how things differ.  Who wants to go on this discovery journey with me and be accountability partners or set up a group on Facebook/Google+?  I plan to stretch it out more than the 30 days so I can have plenty of time to think, reflect, and respond.

Time for a New HRM?

Week of Workouts

Thursday I did the 21 Day Fix Upper Fix as my legs were sore from the two days of squats with Kelly's workouts.

Friday I did Jillian's Shred-It with Weights Level 2.

Saturday I did Jillian's Extreme Shed & Shred Level 1.

Sunday I took a little break and did Scott Cole's Yoga Tai Chi.

I continued the break Monday and did the 21 Day Fix Pilates Fix.

Yesterday, to let out some frustration, I did Kelly Coffey-Meyer's 30 Minutes to Fitness Train Like a Contender Boxing workout.

Today I did the Body for Life for Women workout.

Time for a New HRM?

More and more often the HRM is dying during my workouts so I don't know how much I'm burning.  I'd replaced the battery on the watch portion a couple of months ago but never the sensor.  I went ahead and replaced that battery and it appeared to work the first day.  But ever since it's not reading me.  At the advise of fellow bloggers I contacted Polar via chat to figure out what to do.  Were you aware that when replacing a battery you should let the device sit 10 minutes without one before putting in the new battery?

So I need to get the serial numbers off the watch and sensor to complete the form so that I can ship them along with the strap to the service center for evaluation. Has anyone dealt with Polar's NY warranty service center before and can tell me how long it usually takes?

BODYpeace Series and a Giveaway

I will be coordinating a giveaway with Suzanne of Healthy Ever Afters for some doTERRA essential oils.  I had hoped this would be a close to the month and go along with the BODYpeace series but I haven't had anyone sign up to guest post.  So I'm going to have to re-evaluate what I want to do with the series.

For the giveaway we can do it one of two ways - just a regular one using GiveawayTools as I've done before or as a custom, interactive class that Suzanne would run with door prizes of the oils.  The class sounds more interesting and beneficial to everyone.  Which would you like to see?

My First Races

Last night was my first Lifetime weigh in.  I was up .8 lbs from 2 weeks ago but still in my lil window so I'm happy.  Now we'll see how I do after a month....

My First Races!

At the library Tuesday on the way to Weight Watchers I spotted this card.  I stuck it in my purse to look at it later.  Wednesday I looked up the races on Eventbrite and told Benny I wanted to walk them.  After all it's only about a mile longer than I walked almost every week to the farmer's market!  Thursday I signed up for the series!  Now, I wonder if I'll have anyone to walk with.....

Englewood Race for Roofs - March 28th

Brookside Bash Color Dash - May 16th (Benny's birthday)

Arsenal Tech 5K Run & Walk - September 19th

What did I get myself into? LOL

Week of Workouts

Thursday I did Stephanie Vitorino's Body Target 60.

Friday I did Jillian Michael's Shred-It with Weights Level 2.

Saturday was Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones.

Once I saw snow in the forecast I knew it'd be another shoveling day Sunday.  We had about 7 inches this time around and, just as I'd predicted, it took about 3 hours to do.  Austin didn't help but played outside (i.e. throwing snowballs at me, having me bury him in one of the piles, digging a tunnel in another pile, etc.).  Benny showed up for about the last hour.  He had to go back and fix what he did as he narrowed the driveway about 2ft on each side.  I need all the driveway I can get to back out each morning! LOL

Monday I was worn out from all that shoveling so I rested.

Yesterday I did Kelly Coffey-Meyer's 30 Minutes to Fitness Lift in Full Throttle Olympic Lifting.

Today I did the other workout on Kelly's DVD - Powersculpting.

Don't forget to sign up to guest post for the BODYpeace series!

Weigh in Wednesday

Last night it felt so weird to be at Weight Watchers and NOT weigh in.  I have gone every week (but didn't stay for the 12/23 meeting) of this journey.  I only get a week "off" this time since next week is the first meeting of March that I'll attend.  Weighing myself this morning it looks like I'm still on the right track.

Week of Workouts

Thursday I worked my arms.

Friday I worked my shoulders.

Saturday I knew that in order to be able to make it to the library I couldn't wait for Benny to get up to shovel the driveway.  So I did it ALL BY MYSELF!  I had Austin come out and work on the leftovers but that didn't last long.  At least he stayed outside with me and off his tablet!  It took me about 2 hours to get it all done.

Surprisingly I was never really sore after all that shoveling but I still went ahead and did yoga on Sunday.

Monday I worked my arms again.

Yesterday I wrapped up Body Beast doing Cardio & Abs.

I have no program set up to go to next and have no idea what I want to do EEK!

Body Merry

I was given the opportunity to try out Body Merry's Stretch Marks & Scars Defense Cream as well as the Age Defense Eye Cream in exchange for my review.

Along with eliminating my wingsuit it would be nice to clear up some of those stretch marks from my skin stretching all these years.

Body Merry’s Stretch Marks & Scars Defense Cream is a natural and organic formula consisting of organic cocoa butter and shea butter, alongside lots of pure plant oils and vitamins. This cream provides intense moisturization and nourishes your skin to help visibly reduce the appearance of existing marks and scars, whatever be the cause. Not only that, it effectively prevents the formation of new ones.  Like all our products, it is free from harsh chemicals such as parabens, sulfates and phthalates.

My arm and stomach before applying Body Merry's Stretch Marks & Scars Defense Cream

I haven't used cocoa butter in years but smelled it immediately when I opened the jar.  I could probably sniff it all day LOL!  I applied the Stretch Marks & Scars Defense Cream on my upper arms (aka wings) and my stomach twice a day for a couple of weeks.  I personally can't see any difference in either area.  Cocoa butter is supposed to work wonders for this but perhaps because it's been too long or that my skin is too loose I can't see the effects.  I would like to use this cream again once my skin is tighter to see if it makes a difference.

I didn't know what to expect with Body Merry's Age Defense Eye Cream.  There is a slight scent to this cream, although I can't identify what it is.  I used this once a day for a couple of weeks.  Not even a full pump was enough to cover both eyes (a little dab'll do ya).  I dabbed a towel on my eyes to pick up any excess so it wouldn't get into my eyes.  I noticed the skin around my eyes feels a little smoother than before and maybe a little less puffy.

(I tried to take current pictures this morning but Benny interrupted me and I didn't get it done.)

Order your own Body Merry creams on Amazon

Don't forget to sign up to guest post for the BODYpeace series!

Welcome to Lifetime

Apparently there was an error in the posting that listed the Organic Chia Seed opportunity as a review and a giveaway.  It was only supposed to be a review.  I want to thank the winner, Kimberly Job of Sublime Reflection for being a good sport about it!

I weighed in last night down 1.4 lbs and signed up for the Lifetime Membership at Weight Watchers.  As a Lifetime Member I'm considered a permanent part of the family!  As a Lifetime Member you receive a charm, membership card, free eTools subscription, and unlimited meetings (although I don't see the need to attend more than once a week but some feel it necessary).  Since I only need to weigh in monthly now I'd like to know what you'd like to see instead.

Do I take a picture of my scale before my Wednesday workout like this?

Or do I have something else here?  Please leave your ideas in the comments.

Week of Workouts

Thursday it was Cardio & Abs.

Saturday was Build: Chest/Tris before heading to Comic Con.

Monday I began week 12 with Bulk: Back.

Yesterday was leg day.

Today I did Bulk: Chest.

Wizard World Comic Con

On the Indiana Women's Blogger Facebook Group I was given 3 passes to Comic Con earlier in the week then on Thursday I got a notice that I won two more (never got used by anyone).  Neither Benny nor Austin seemed too thrilled to go, especially with the high prices for autographs and photo opportunities.  I finally got them convinced to attend but boy was it COLD!

We didn't go until late because of Benny so I missed out on some of the panels.  We popped in William Shatner's talk but left about halfway through; Benny said it wasn't what he expected.  Did you know that Shatner owns horses and comes to the Indiana State Fairgrounds in September for some kind of horse race?  He also mentioned that he helped design a motorcycle and will be driving it from Chicago to Los Angeles this summer.  It's quite an interesting looking bike!

After that we walked around the exhibit floor.  There were so many cool looking things displayed and for sale.  Austin and Benny went into the zombie shooting range and took home their targets.  We ran into Spock manning a booth.  Don't know if I startled the guy or what but my picture came out blurry when he took it.

We popped into the concert by the Critical Hit Band (leader is the guy who writes the music for World of Warcraft) while waiting for the costume contest.  The lady in the middle was playing an instrument I don't recognize.  It had the neck of a cello but a tiny body.  (lights too bright so I couldn't get a good picture)

There were many interesting costumes that entered the contest (as individuals or groups).  Winners included costumes from Spaceballs, Aladdin, Labyrinth, and Star Wars.  Some spent months and probably a lot of money putting their costumes together.  It put my Halloween costumes to shame!

I couldn't imagine being there all day but I would've liked to go to the talks or panels.  I would like to go to another one in costume and hang out with other cosplayers.

For those of you that have gone to a ComicCon or GenCon, what did you enjoy the most?

Week of Workouts

Thursday I did Jillian Michaels' Shred It with Weights Level 2.

I was so exited to get Body Beast again so I can wrap up this program.  If it hadn't snowed I would've picked it up at the library Wednesday night.  Instead I got it Thursday night.

Friday I returned to Body Beast with Bulk: Shoulders.

Saturday I did Cardio & Abs.

Sunday was Build: Back/Bis.

Monday was leg day.

Tuesday I wasn't feeling it.  I don't know how to describe.  I ended up just doing Cardio without the Abs.

Everything was back to normal today for me to do Bulk: Shoulders.
